  • Property, services, or goods valued between $750 and $5,000 (excluding firearms or motor vehicles)
  • Public records or instruments held by public officials
  • Access devices such as debit cards, PINs, or passwords that enable fund transfers

Shoplifting (Theft in the Third Degree)

Shoplifting or theft of items valued under $750 is classified as a gross misdemeanor. Penalties include a maximum of 1 year in jail and a maximum fine of $5,000.

Robbery involves stealing items from another person's possession or immediate presence using force or threats. Without deadly weapons, robbery is a Class B felony carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. When a deadly weapon is involved, it becomes a Class A felony.
